What is a 3D hologram?
Have you ever watched a 3D movie? You need 3D glasses for a 3D movie. Holograms are three-dimensional (3D) images can be seen without 3D glasses. You can see holograms with the naked eyes. How? First, the light from an object is recorded. Unlike pictures, holograms preserve the depth and parallax. And then it projects as a three-dimensional (3D) object. Here is how to make a 3D hologram at home with simple materials. Let's get to it!
Procedures
-
Place the template on a plastic film. Click the button to get the template.
-
Trace the template on a plastic film with a marker.
-
Cut it out with your scissors.
-

Science Behind It
If light meets a transparent material, such as glass or clear plastic, some light is reflected off the object. And the rest passes through and is refracted. Simply, as light passes through air and into another clear material, it changes speed, and light is both reflected and refracted by the material. The same thing happens when you place the clear plastic on the smartphone. The light from the smartphone is reflected and refracted.
Pyramid has four faces. When you place your pyramid on the smartphone, the four images pass through air and into four faces of the pyramid. And the four images angle toward the center. When all four images are seen at the same time, 3D illusion is created.
