Balloon-Powered Boat
How do boats move in water?
A boat is a vehicle that can float and move in water such as a lake, river or ocean. How do boats move in water? There are several power sources. Boat can move by electrical power, usually using a motor. Boat also can move by using power from the wind, waves or the sun. The boat we will build today is powered by balloons.
Materials

foam board

balloon

straw
-
tape or rubber band

scissors

glue gun

coffee cup sleeves, paper, stick and crayons to decorate the boat (optional)
Procedures

Cut the foam board in a boat shape.

Make a small hole for the straw to pass.

Put the straw through the hole.

Take a hot glue gun and fix the straw to the boat.

Cut off the end of straw.

Blow your balloon up several times.

Slide the short end of the straw to the balloon.

Wrap it around with tape or rubber band.

Decorate your boat with various materials.

Blow the balloon.
-
And block the opening with your finger.

Set your boat in a pool and let it go.
Science Behind It
According to Newton's third law of motion, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Simply, if you push an object, that object pushes back in the opposite direction with equal power. In this case, air from the balloon pushes against the water and water pushes the boat back. So it moves forward.
